Choosing botanical tea

A guide to rosebuds, chrysanthemum and red dates, and how to enjoy them in your daily rituals.

Botanical teas are made from whole dried flowers and fruit rather than tea leaves. Each has its own character, so choosing is mostly a matter of taste and moment.

  1. 01

    Rosebuds

Fragrant and delicate: a floral cup that brightens an ordinary afternoon.

  2. 02

    Chrysanthemum

Light and floral: a gentle, refreshing cup for any time of day.

  3. 03

    Red dates

Naturally sweet. Enjoy them on their own, or add a few to rosebuds or chrysanthemum for a softer cup.

  4. 04

    How to prepare

For one cup of 250 ml, start with 5–8 rosebuds or 4–6 chrysanthemum flowers. Use water of 90–95 °C, just off the boil, and steep for 3–5 minutes. Add 2–3 sliced red dates for a softer, sweeter cup. Both flowers can be steeped a second time. If the pack gives other guidance, follow the pack.
